VIDEO: “Over and Over”
“Webster Hall -November 2, 2006″
Hot Chip, Fuck Yeah!
Opening with “keep fallin’” through “colors” the polygonal group displayed the up most, if not exceeding, expectations of what live music is all about. Mixing known favorites with new tracks, each song took on a life of its own and became something completely different. Things were slowed down a bit as they serenaded the crowd with “laws of salvation” and “beach party”. Hearts were opened, emotional connections were made, and if there was ever a romance between audience and band, this was it. And just when everyone thought it was safe to remove their dancing shoes, the guys from Brittan punched the swooned congregation square in the face with a remixed version of “no fit state”. As the group walked off stage, the untamed, obsessed, cronies stomped the floor and screamed (as if someone had collectively confiscated all the liquor and cigarettes) until the mighty six-pack played again. “Careful” was followed by “over and over”, which is exactly how this band should be experienced- over and over again.
